On 03/12/2015: Sreerupa mitra chaudhury (NirbhoyDidi), who conceptualized Nirbhoy Gram campaign and engaged in empowering 3000 villages in Malda district of West bengal, donated wheel chairs, oxygen cylinders, bed pan and stretchers for critically Ill, disabled and infirm railway passengers on the occasion of world disability day. Sreerupa Mitra Chaudhury is a champion of homeless and abandoned disabled people who live on the streets. She was accompanied by tarun monga (national coordinator, Nirbhoy gram) and narayani banerjee (district coordinator, Nirbhoy Gram). The materials were received by station manager, Malda town railway station. The Malda districthas nearly 50 lakh population, most of them live in remote villages. The district is located in the Bangladesh border of West bengal and reports high number in poverty, illiteracy and arsenic affected drinking water. Nirbhoy Gram has emerged as a powerful social initiative and highlights the issues concerning safety, security and protection of marginalised sections of the society. The campaign educates common man, especially villagers to be fearless and self-reliant. Nirbhoy Didi SreerupaMitraChaudhury is an icon and the brand ambassador of this program. She has gained enormous popularity for her villager centric approach in social welfare.
